Famous names line up for Vivari Queen’s Cup honours

Nine teams have already completed their application forms for this prestigious high-goal competition and Polo Manager Oliver Ellis is confident that the tournament will, once again, attract a strong entry, offering three weeks of first-class competition.

Heading up the early entries are last year’s runners-up Ellerston. The Pieres brothers (Gonzalito and Facundo) again team up with patron James Packer and new member of the team Max Routledge. Ellerston is not the only team to field a Pieres this season though as Adrian Kirby’s Atlantic Capital will feature Gonzalito and Facundo’s younger brother, Nicolas. He is making his UK debut this season and will be playing off six goals.

Although there is no high-goal Black Bears team this season, spectators will still have the opportunity to watch the Novillo-Astrada brothers in action as Eduardo and Javier have been signed up to play with Lyndon Lea in his Zacara team. Tom de Bruin is the fourth man in this quartet.
The Gottschalks will again be fielding two Les Lions teams. Joachim will be playing alongside Eduardo and Ignacio Heguy, while Max will be in action with Ignus du Plessis, Ignacio Novillo Astrada and Mariano Gonzalez. Another Heguy who is confirmed to play is Bautista, who will again be wearing the shirt of Jason Stowe’s Geebung. Their team-mates will be Lucas Monteverde and Gareth Evans.

Victor Vargas and his Lechuza Caracas team have a new line up for 2008. Vargas will be in action alongside Marcos di Paolo, Guillermo Aguero and Tomas Garcia del Rio. There are also some changes to the Grayshurst line up as patron Martyn Ratcliffe has signed up Augustine Merlos, Ruki Baillieu and James Beim for their 2008 Viviari Queen’s Cup campaign. Lovelocks however are keeping the same format as last year, with Lolo Castagnola, Jaime Huidobro and Matt Loder playing alongside Charlie Hanbury.
